Christine Apolot, the Member of Parliament for Kumi District, has urged teachers to return to their classrooms following the suspension of the strike by the Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU).

She emphasized that Parliament is currently working on strategies to address teachers’ salary concerns.

Apolot mentioned that MPs are holding a parliamentary session today, Monday, where salary enhancement for teachers is among the key issues on the agenda.

Meanwhile, Justin Acakara dismissed rumors that UNATU chairpersons were bribed to suspend the strike.

He clarified that no money was exchanged and attributed the suspension to the commitment made by the Speaker of Parliament to address the teachers’ grievances, prompting them to pause their industrial action while awaiting tangible resolutions.
