Teachers to access phase 2 Walimu loan digitally
At least Shillings 500 Million have been earmarked for each district in Teso Sub-Region under Walimu cooperative Union Limited.
The funds will be accessed by the district City and municipality saccos for poverty alleviation.
Speaking to Kyoga Veritas Radio at Soroti Hotel where the Union is officially launching phase two, Steven Olinga the national Vice chairperson Walimu Cooperative Union Limited said that they have going digital in the second phase to help teacher access the loan directly from the Union.
He observed that the first disbursement of 17 billion in 2015 is being recovered with Kalaki and kumi emerging best in the process.
He added that to improve recovery rate, district leaders will be involved.
According to Moses Emabu the LC 5 Chairperson Amuria, they were unaware of large sums of funds that were given to the teachers in first phase, adding that with their involvement in the second phase, walimu initiative should succeed.
He urges teachers to make best use of the funds for intended purpose.
Moses Omagor the chairperson board of the benefiting Amuria teachers Sacco boosts of their recovery in the district, saying that they have recovered at least 97% out of Shilling 280 million they received in the first phase.
He explains that more teachers are waiting for the funds which this second phase will sort out.
