Speaker Hon. Anita Among Confirmed Unopposed for Bukedea District Woman MP Seat
The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, has been officially confirmed unopposed for the Bukedea District Woman Member of Parliament seat, securing her position for another term of service and reaffirming her strong political influence and popularity in the district.
Her confirmation followed the close of nominations at the Bukedea District Electoral Commission offices, where no other candidate submitted nomination papers to contest against her. The development was received with celebration across Bukedea, as residents expressed gratitude for her continuous support and development initiatives in the region.
Speaking shortly after the confirmation, Hon. Among thanked the people of Bukedea for their overwhelming trust and loyalty, describing it as a testament to their shared vision of transformation and empowerment. She pledged to continue advancing the district’s development agenda, focusing on education, healthcare, infrastructure, and women’s economic empowerment.
“I am deeply humbled by the confidence the people of Bukedea have placed in me once again. This is not just my victory, but our collective commitment to progress and unity. I promise to keep working tirelessly to uplift every family and ensure no one is left behind,” Hon. Among said.
Over the years, the Speaker has spearheaded several community-driven programs in Bukedea, including scholarships for underprivileged students, health outreach initiatives, and support for women and youth enterprises. Her efforts have earned her widespread admiration, not only as a political leader but also as a mother figure and advocate for social transformation.
Local leaders and residents who turned up at the district headquarters described her unopposed confirmation as a clear reflection of her unmatched service and commitment to the people. “Mama Anita has been with us through every challenge. She has built schools, improved health centers, and empowered women. She deserves this honor,” said one of the district elders.
The unopposed confirmation also underscores her growing national stature as one of Uganda’s most influential female politicians, currently serving as the Speaker of the 11th Parliament and a senior figure in the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
As the 2026 general elections draw closer, Hon. Among’s uncontested return signals continuity, stability, and renewed hope for the people of Bukedea District, who continue to rally behind her leadership and development vision.
