Rotary Club Provides Healthcare Services to Over 1,500 Patients at Ogooma Health Center Two in Kumi District

At least 1,500 patients have benefited from a free annual health camp organized by Rotary club Kumi Branch.
The annual Health camp brings various services like cancer screening, malaria testing and other decease control mechanism closer to the society.
Following the 2 days camp held at Ogooma Health Center, Winnie Akullu, the former president of Rotary Club Kumi branch, confirmed that the club has supported over 1,500 patients with medicine and disease screening during the exercise.
She explains that the club organizes a two-day health camp annually to reach out to communities that are far from health facilities, such as hard-to-reach areas and local hospitals, some this that defines the club as a service organization focused on community improvement through projects like promoting education, health, and peace.
Among other notable achievements the organization has demonstrated include establishing the Rotary Blood Bank at Mengo Hospital and the Rotary Cancer center at Nsambya Hospital, running the annual Rotary cancer run, and implementing Rotary family health days across the country.
They have also contributed to clean water access, sanitation infrastructure, and youth skills training programs.
While at Ogooma Health Center Two, Beatrice Akiteng the in charge expressed gratitude to Rotary Club for their support, highlighting that the services provided addressed health gaps that the facility could not cover alone.
She acknowledged that the health facility can not handle some of the disease screening leaving patients in a dilemma, calling for more efforts in addressing the challenges faced in the communities through more helping hands.
Meanwhile, patients who received screening and medicines from Rotary Club expressed satisfaction over the services they received during the 2 days health camp.
