Residents in Katakwi in fear following the appearance of crocodiles

Fear has gripped the residents of Okibui and Okoritok villages in Adacar parish, Guyaguya Sub County of Katakwi district following the appearance of crocodiles in the flooded and swampy areas within their communities.
Early this week, a crocodile was spotted between the villages of Okibui and Okoritok, prompting a call to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) for assistance in capturing these animals.
It is believed that the crocodile was displaced by the rising waters from the Karamoja region, causing river banks to overflow.
The presence of the crocodile in the villages of Okibui and Okoritok has raised concerns among residents about the potential presence of other wild and dangerous water animals in the area.
Simon Peter Okot, the LC 3 of Usuk sub county, has expressed that residents are now living in fear, especially as the areas where locals graze animals are close to flooded regions where these dangerous water animals may lurk.
