Police Arrest Three Imbalu Boys for Assault and Robbery in Mbale City
Police have arrested three Imbalu boys (young men preparing for circumcision) for allegedly assaulting multiple individuals and robbing them in Katwaka Cell, Bumagenyi Ward, Industrial Division of Mbale City.
The suspects, identified as Wamimbi Bosco, Watuwa Bernard, and Wabulo Moses, were apprehended by police in Mbale City.
According to a statement from Police Spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma, dated Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the incident occurred on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at around 3:30 PM.
Kituuma explained that the group of Imbalu boys, armed with pangas, sticks, and stones, injured a man, Wesonga Swaib, by striking him on the head with a panga. They also robbed other victims of their belongings, including mobile phones and other yet-to-be-identified items.
Wesonga was quickly taken to Bunampongo Health Centre III for first aid by his relatives.
“Security agencies take this situation seriously, as such actions undermine a cultural practice that has been peacefully observed for many years,” said Kituuma.
