Papa Emorimor Joins Hundreds in Mourning Slain Jozan Primary Pupil in Kapelbyong
Kapelbyong, Uganda – Hundreds of mourners gathered in Ateuso, Kapelbyong District, for the final send-off of Apio Faith, a pupil from Jozan Primary School, who was tragically killed. The burial ceremony was attended by high-ranking government officials, security leaders, and cultural figures, highlighting the gravity of the loss.
Among those present was the Iteso cultural leader, Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot, who stood in solidarity with the grieving family and community. In his remarks, Papa Emorimor called for justice and greater efforts to ensure the safety of children, emphasizing the need for unity and vigilance to protect the young generation.
The event also saw the participation of Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces (DCDF), State Minister for Affairs Clement Ongalo Obote, Fisheries Minister Helen Asia Abeku, and East Kyoga Regional Police Commander Damalie Nachuha, among other dignitaries. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to addressing the security concerns raised by the community.
Speakers at the ceremony condemned the violence that led to Apio’s untimely death, calling for swift investigations and stringent measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Residents of Kapelbyong expressed their sorrow and frustration, urging authorities to strengthen law enforcement and enhance security in the district.
As the mourners laid Apio Faith to rest, emotions ran high, with many calling for action to ensure that such a tragedy does not befall another family. The government officials assured the public that investigations were underway and pledged to work closely with local leaders to uphold justice.
