Odikor Refutes Claims of Defecting to Acom’s Camp, Calls for Unity and Issue-Based Politics
Bernard Odikor, the LC3 Chairperson of Kagwara Town Council in Kasilo County, Serere District, and a top political agent of State Minister for Fisheries Hon. Hellen Adoa Abeku, has strongly dismissed social media allegations claiming he has crossed over to the camp of Adoa’s political rival, Esther Lucy Acom Ajokotau.
While speaking to our reporter, Odikor described the circulating WhatsApp messages as baseless, misleading, and politically motivated. He clarified that his presence at Acom’s rally in Kagwara was purely in his official capacity as the area LC3 chairperson.
“I have not defected to Acom’s camp. I attended her rally because, as a leader of Kagwara, it is my responsibility to welcome and engage with all candidates who visit the area,” he said.
Odikor stated that the propaganda was intended to tarnish his name and create unnecessary tension between him and Hon. Hellen Adoa, who is seeking to retain her seat as Serere Woman Member of Parliament in the 2026 elections.
He reaffirmed his unwavering support for Minister Adoa, describing himself as a strong and committed agent of her campaign.
“I am fully behind Hon. Adoa. She has significantly contributed to the development and transformation of Serere, and I am confident she will secure victory in 2026,” Odikor emphasized.
Odikor noted that being Adoa’s coordinator does not prevent him from attending other candidates’ events, especially when they take place within his administrative jurisdiction. He encouraged members of the community to attend all campaign rallies and evaluate each candidate’s manifesto critically.
“Listen to every candidate. Assess their messages and choose leaders who prioritize community development over personal interests,” he advised.
The LC3 chairperson urged the public to reject divisive politics, hate speech, and the spread of propaganda, noting that such practices undermine development and disrupt harmony within communities.
“Let us not be used to destroy posters, spread lies, attack opponents, or engage in violence. Such acts are punishable by law and only take us backward,” he cautioned.
He appealed to political agents and the general population to uphold integrity and avoid being manipulated to tarnish others’ reputations.
On matters of security, Odikor commended residents of Kagwara Town Council for their increased vigilance, reporting that cases of theft have drastically reduced in recent months. He encouraged the community to maintain this level of alertness, especially during the festive season when criminal activity typically spikes.
The Serere District Woman Member of Parliament race is intensifying, with Hon. Hellen Adoa facing stiff competition from Esther Lucy Acom, whom she previously defeated in the NRM party primaries. A total of seven women have been successfully nominated to contest in the election scheduled for January 15, 2026.
