By Mr Odeke

SOROTI CITY, UGANDA — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Soroti City East Constituency, Mr. Orego Isaac, has officially launched his campaign ahead of the 2026 general elections, pledging to deliver transformative, people-centered leadership focused on industrialization, youth empowerment, and inclusive development.

The launch took place on Sunday, November 10, 2025, at St. Kizito’s Technical Institute in Madera Ward, attracting a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters dressed in NRM’s trademark yellow. Many waved posters and chanted party slogans, signaling strong support for Orego’s vision under the campaign slogan, “Together We Build Our City.”

In his address, Orego expressed optimism about his chances in the upcoming polls, saying Soroti City East is ready for a new chapter of growth and transformation.

“I am confident that Soroti City East is ready for a new chapter of transformation and progress,” he said. “We are ready to build an industrial city that will create jobs for our youth and improve the livelihoods of our people.”

At the heart of Orego’s manifesto is industrial development, which he believes is the key to unlocking Soroti’s economic potential. He lamented that despite the allocation of industrial land years ago, the city has yet to attract serious investors.

“Ever since we got that industrial land, we have never gotten an investor to put up a serious industry,” he noted. “That’s why I am asking the people of Soroti to vote for me, so I can use my networks to connect investors and ensure our city becomes an industrial hub.”

According to Orego, the establishment of industries in Soroti would not only create employment for the youth but also boost local revenue and improve the general standard of living.

He also committed to strengthening Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) to promote women and youth empowerment. He said most women and youth groups in the city lack access to financial resources necessary to sustain their small businesses or support their families.

“Many women are organized in groups, but they lack the financial capacity to boost their businesses or meet household needs,” Orego said. “I will ensure that more funds are injected into their SACCOs to empower them economically.”

In addition, Orego promised to work closely with youth leaders after the elections to design sustainable programs that focus on skills development, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

He emphasized the need for political unity and alignment with the ruling NRM government, arguing that Soroti City’s slow pace of development stems from years of opposition leadership.

“Other cities are developing because they support the ruling party, but here in Soroti, we are still behind,” he said. “I am requesting the people of Soroti City to vote for NRM so that we can attract more government programs and projects to our city.”

Unlike the traditional large rallies, Orego said his campaign will adopt a door-to-door approach to better engage with residents and understand their real challenges.

“This time round, I will not hold many big rallies,” he said. “I will be moving home to home to listen to the people, understand their challenges, and work with them on practical solutions.”

Orego faces a competitive race against Moses Okia Attan (FDC), Rodney Akongel Mukula (Independent), and Pascal Amuriat (Democratic Front Party).

Concluding his remarks, Orego reiterated his commitment to uniting the people of Soroti City East under the NRM’s vision of inclusive progress.

“I believe the people of Soroti City East have seen the difference,” he said. “Together, we will build our city—moving from words to action—and make Soroti a model of progress in Eastern Uganda.”
