Museveni Compares Development Strategy to ‘Gradual Slaughter of a Cow’ as He Unveils Major Projects in Zombo

President Yoweri Museveni has compared his government’s approach to national development to the careful and deliberate process of slaughtering a cow—emphasizing patience and step-by-step execution. He made the analogy while addressing residents of Zombo District during a campaign tour, where he unveiled new plans aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, and youth empowerment in the region.

Speaking to a large gathering at the Zombo Upper Primary School playground on Saturday, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate was met with a warm reception. Crowds cheered and waved party regalia as the long-serving leader arrived to deliver his message of steady progress and government commitment to regional development.

During his address, President Museveni acknowledged widespread frustration over the poor condition of key roads in the West Nile sub-region. He singled out the Nebbi–Goli–Zombo–Vurra commercial corridor and the Nebbi–Arua City road—critical routes for trade and transport in the area. Local traders and transporters have long complained that the deteriorating roads are hindering economic activity and access to markets.

In response, Museveni assured residents that improvements were on the way, though they would be implemented in phases. He explained that the contract for the construction of the Nebbi–Zombo–Vurra road is expected to be signed in April 2026, marking a significant step toward addressing infrastructure challenges in the district.

Beyond road infrastructure, the President also outlined a series of planned investments in the health and education sectors. Under the new development plan, seven health centres and one district hospital are set to be constructed or upgraded. These facilities are expected to enhance access to essential medical services and reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for healthcare.

Museveni also reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, though specific details of youth-targeted interventions were not disclosed during the speech. He emphasized that all development efforts are being guided by a strategic, long-term vision aimed at lifting communities out of poverty and fostering sustainable growth.

The visit to Zombo is part of Museveni’s broader campaign trail across the country as he seeks another term in office under the banner of the ruling NRM party. His message continues to center on peace, stability, and gradual but consistent national transformation.
