MP Alobo donates ironsheets to Agama primary school.
The Soroti City Woman Memebr of Parliament Hon. Joan Alobo Acom has on Friday donated ironsheets to Agama primary school in Soroti city west for the roofing of teachers house.
John Edanyu the chairperson said the school throught the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) money parents always pay enabled the house to be constructed up to the roofing level but they were stuck on where to find timber and ironsheets.
Edanyu added that after looking around they approached the woman MP who accepted to support the school with ironsheets within the shortest time possible.
“We had nowhere to find money for roofing this teacher’s house, parents were over drained, but when we approached Hon. Alobo she didn’t turn our request down, and today we are here receiving the support” Edanyu said.
He noted that the school has a challenge of teachers houses forcing some of them to sleep in classrooms, something he attributed to the poor performance in school.
Benna Acen the deputy headteacher Agama primary school while receiving the donation thanked Hon. Alobo saying at least one teacher will now be accommodated in this house once it’s completed.
Meanwhile Hon. Joan Alobo while handing over the ironsheets encouraged all the stakeholders to support the education and contribute whatever they can towards the contribution of teachers houses in government schools since government has failed to build teacher houses and classrooms.
“We should support the education of our children in various ways, let’s not bank hopes in this government because it will never give everything to our schools”. Says Hon. Alobo.
Hon. Alobo also promised to continue supporting schools across the city by providing other things like learning materials and giving children career guidance.
