Vendors at Soroti Main Market have expressed concerns about the ongoing lack of trade order both inside and outside the market premises.

Aisha Namukosa and Grace Aliba, who sell fresh foods within the market, lament that their trading area is often poorly lit and attracts few customers due to disorganization and chaos.

They voiced frustration that many vendors are forced to operate in ungazetted areas, negatively impacting their sales and safety.

Hellen Grace Odeke, Vice Chairperson of the Textiles Section at Soroti Main Market, echoed these concerns, emphasizing the need for better regulation and order to enable smoother business operations.

Samuel Aliabu, Chairperson of Soroti Main Market Vendors, acknowledged the challenges caused by the lack of trade order. He assured vendors that he is committed to collaborating closely with city authorities to resolve these issues and improve the trading environment.

Meanwhile, John Michael Okurut, Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Soroti, urged traders to voluntarily observe proper trade order before enforcement measures are introduced, aiming to maintain peace and order within the market.
