Kumi Police Investigate Suspected Attempted Rape
Kumi Police Station is investigating the circumstances surrounding an attempted rape involving an 11-year-old girl, allegedly committed by a security guard who was reportedly supported by fellow security personnel during his escape.
The suspect, who was employed by SOU Security Services, escaped before police could apprehend him. His identity has not been disclosed as investigations are ongoing.

According to James Oumo, a resident of Kumi Municipality and the father of the girl, the incident occurred on Monday night, October 14, 2025, at approximately 8:00 pm.
Oumo recounted that he found the security guard, who is responsible for guarding the Pepsi depot in Kumi, holding his daughter tightly with a gun on his back and covering her mouth with his hand, attempting to forcefully take her down with the intent to assault her.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly pleaded for forgiveness and admitted to the act, which prompted the family to report the incident to Kumi CPS under case number SDREFI 36/14/10/2025, classified as attempted rape.
Dinner Aluka, the girl’s mother, stated that she had sent her daughter to lock the outside gate.
She explained that the girl, who is in primary five, encountered the suspect on her way back to the house.
