KATAKWI:

Boniface Ileut, a senior catechist at St. Pius Catholic Church in St. Stephen Parish, Katakwi Denary, Soroti Diocese, and a resident of Aelenyang village, Palam Sub County in Katakwi district, has embarked on a remarkable journey back to the classroom environment at the age of 84.

Despite his advanced age and distinguished gray hair, Ileut, who also serves as the current clan chairperson of Ikangaida Ikareuwo of Aelenyang, Palam Sub County, felt compelled to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management.

This decision was inspired by his daughter, Dr. Mary Goreti Kulume, who recently graduated with a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from UMI.

Ileut, who previously obtained a Diploma in Project Planning & Management and Development Studies, as well as graduating from Ngozi University in education at the age of 74, believes in the enduring value of education and its ability to open doors to new opportunities.

Reflecting on his experiences, Ileut shared how education has broadened his horizons, allowing him to travel to Western countries such as Rome, France, and Jerusalem.

He emphasized the importance of education for both the younger and older generations, urging them to prioritize learning as a means of personal and professional growth.

Dr. Mary Goreti Kulume expressed her support for her father’s decision to pursue further education and encouraged both youth and the elderly to follow Ileut’s example.

Fidel Oluka, the town clerk of Katakwi town council, commended Ileut for his commitment to education and encouraged others to emulate his dedication, emphasizing that success knows no age limit.
