Soroti City | July 24, 2025 — Hon. Latif Abdul has officially been declared the NRM flag bearer for the Soroti City East mayoral seat after securing a resounding victory over his closest rival, Ramadhan Bogere, the current Speaker of Soroti City East.

According to results announced by NRM party registrar Justin Okello, Hon. Latif garnered 6,982 votes, representing an overwhelming 83% of the total vote, while Bogere managed only 1,425 votes — 17% of the tally.

 

The victory sends a strong political signal in the region, as Abdul, a well-known figure in Soroti’s political and business circles, continues to strengthen his grip on local leadership and grassroots support.

 

In his victory remarks, Latif Abdul expressed gratitude to the people of Soroti City East for their trust and confidence in his leadership, promising transformative service delivery if elected in the 2026 general elections.

 

“This win is not just mine—it’s for the people who believe in a better Soroti City East. I am ready to serve with integrity, energy, and commitment,” Abdul stated.

 

Party officials and supporters took to the streets in celebration, hailing the outcome as a reflection of Abdul’s consistency and close connection with the community.

 

With this flag, Hon. Latif Abdul now turns his focus toward the 2026 mayoral race, where he is expected to be a front-runner under the NRM ticket.

 

Meanwhile, Ramadhan Bogere has not yet issued an official statement following the results.
