GLOBAL LITIGATION INITIATIVE
Global Litigation Initiative is an international non – governmental organization located in Kampala, Uganda. It promotes public interest litigation and it’s determined to protect public interests, enforce public duties, or vindicate fundamental rights like human rights and constitutional freedoms. Unlike traditional lawsuits, PIL doesn’t require the petitioner to have a personal stake in the matter; instead, it serves as a tool to ensure access to justice for vulnerable populations, hold public authorities accountable, and effectuate positive social and legal change.
It offers Pro bono services especially legal assistance, and it’s provided voluntarily and free of charge for the public good. Originating from the Latin phrase “pro bono publico” (for the public good), this practice aims to ensure access to justice for vulnerable populations and support public interest causes.
