Family Speaks Out Over Forged Evidence In Defilement Case

The family of the teenager allegedly defiled by LC3 Chairman of Awaliwal Sub County in Soroti district, Peter Ebau, has finally spoken out about the alteration of documents pinning the suspect.
The confession from the family in Magara Village in Toroma Sub County, Katakwi district comes several weeks after the remand of the suspect to Soroti Prison.
At first, the same family sided with the suspect, denying the baptism certificate which showed that the victim was only 15 years.
They embraced another certificate bearing a different name of the girl aged 18 years.
According to Christine Okwakol, the mother of the victim, they were threatened and coerced by the police to alter some details in the birth certificate.
Okwakol says that the police detained her and the pregnant girl for more than 24 hours, forcing her breastfeeding baby to starve for the whole day and night at home.
