Business Community in Soroti City Backs Francis Esudu Obwonyo for City Mayor

Soroti City, Uganda — The business community of Soroti City has unanimously expressed their support for Francis Esudu Obwonyo as the preferred candidate for the upcoming mayoral elections.

The endorsement was made during a consultative meeting held at Mogil Hotel on Friday evening, where numerous business men and women gathered to discuss the city’s leadership and development.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Presidential Advisor Charles Elasu, NRM Mobilizer Teddy Acham, MP aspirant Isaac Orego for East, NRM City Chairman Enomu John, and Former LC5 Soroti District Chairman Egunyu Micheal.

Egunyu Micheal, called on the business community to rally behind Esudu, emphasizing that the city’s growth depends on leadership with strong business character.

Egunyu stated, “For Soroti to develop, we need a leader who has a business mindset. I also urge voters to desist from tribal politics if we are to see progress.”

He dismissed rumors suggesting he was paid to step down in favor of Esudu, affirming his integrity and his stance against corruption and bribery.

Enomu John, the Soroti City chairman of the NRM party, highlighted the importance of business community involvement in city leadership. “It is our responsibility to participate in choosing leaders who can improve services like the road network within the city,” he said.

He pointed out the deplorable condition of Adams Road, which has been in a sorry state for years despite being a busy commercial area.

Enomu added that with a mayor like Esudu, it would be easier to address such infrastructural issues, which are vital for revenue generation.

Presidential Advisor Charles Elasu echoed the significance of leadership rooted in business acumen. “Most prosperous cities worldwide are led by businesspeople,” he said.

Elasu praised Esudu Francis for his background and qualities, asserting that he is the right candidate to steer Soroti towards development and prosperity.

The meeting concluded with a consensus among attendees on the importance of unity and choosing a leader committed to the city’s growth, emphasizing that Esudu’s business-oriented approach could be instrumental in transforming Soroti into a thriving urban center.
