BREAKING: UPC’s Sarah Aguti wins Dokolo Woman MP By-election

Dokolo, Uganda: Ms. Sarah Aguti, a candidate for the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), has been declared the winner of Thursday’s by-election for the Dokolo District Woman MP seat.

Ms Aguti was Thursday night pronounced champ of the political decision by Dokolo Region Returning Official, Mr Erikwaine Ngobi after she surveyed 23044 votes in the absolute 173 surveying stations dissipated across the northern Uganda area to beat five different up-and-comers in the race.

 

Ngobi declared on Thursday evening, “As a Returning Officer for Dokolo Electoral District and in accordance with Section 53 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, declare Aguti Sarah the winner and District Representative to Parliament, Dokolo Electoral District.” Sarah received the most votes.

The ruling NRM party’s Ms. Rose Adong Janet Elau, Aguti’s closest rival, came in second place with 14001 votes. The opposition FDC’s Dr. Rosemary Acwol Ogwal, Cecilia Ogwal’s daughter, came in third place with 8168 votes, and NUP’s Harriet Ageno came in fourth place with 727 votes.

 

Two autonomous competitors in the race, Ms Akullo Esther-Obot and Rebecca Arao had 790 and 439 votes separately
