Boxes of drugs worth about Shs 40M impounded in parts of Tes
151 Boxes of drugs worth about Shillings 40 Million have been impounded in a 5 days operation carried out by National Drug Authority (NDA) from Serere Bukedea and Kalaki districts.
During a press briefing at the NDA regional offices in Soroti today, Musa Padde, the regional inspector of Drugs NDA , explained that the boxes containing assorted Human and veterinary medicines were picked from drug outlets that were operating illegally with some having unqualified health personnel.
He says that the operation carried out by NDA is mandated to protect public health.
However, Tonie Makumbi the Senior Inspector of drug enforcement at NDA stated that the operation in the North East part of the region was orchestrated by intelligence information and surveillance activities.
He however, commended the region for curtailing the theft of government drugs highlighting that they did not discover these drugs during the crackdown
