Apostle Daniel Emaasit Steps In to Mediate Rody Gavana–Canis Odd–Naffz Cee “Edo Kiyo” Dispute
In a bid to calm tensions within Teso’s fast-growing music industry, Apostle Daniel Emaasit has announced plans to mediate between three of the region’s biggest names — Rody Gavana of Wakanda Entertainment, Canis Odd of Louis Management, and songwriter Naffz Cee — following their heated dispute over the hit track Edo Kiyo.
Speaking to the press, Apostle Emaasit emphasized the need for unity and reconciliation. “The small struggles of Teso that always try to bring us down should be given solutions. Whenever we try to develop, setbacks come — and that’s normal. But it’s how we handle them that matters. I’m offering myself to meet Rody Gavana, Naffz Cee, and Canis Odd to fix this issue. It might seem small, but big things start small,” he said.
He also noted that Teso’s music industry has immense potential but risks stagnation if infighting continues. “Teso is powerful; anything that comes from Teso is powerful. But the problem is that we are not seeing where we are going. We need to come together and solve it. These fights are letting Teso down. If we’re always fighting, our music industry will only remain local instead of competing internationally,” he added.
The conflict centers on the authorship and rights to Edo Kiyo. According to Louis Management, Naffz Cee originally wrote the song, and when Rody Gavana approached Canis Odd for a collaboration, both parties agreed to credit Naffz as the composer. Canis Odd reportedly shared a demo version of the track with Gavana, who expressed strong interest. However, Louis Management alleges that Rody Gavana later uploaded the song to YouTube without proper permission.
Louis Management’s Marketing Manager, GoodLucky Timothy, confirmed that the company took action to protect its artist’s rights. “As management, we are not taking it for granted. We pulled down the song, reported it to YouTube, and ownership was confirmed in our favor. Our legal team is now taking action because of the disrespect to our management, the defamation of our artist, and abuse of our brand,” he said.
The dispute has sparked widespread debate in Teso’s entertainment circles, with many welcoming Apostle Emaasit’s intervention. Industry observers hope that his mediation will not only resolve the Edo Kiyo controversy but also set a precedent for conflict resolution in the region’s burgeoning creative sector.
