Agents and SACCO Heads to Use 54 Gadgets to Enhance PDM Work

Soroti City town agents and SACCO chairpersons have been equipped with 54 brand new digital gadgets aimed at improving data collection and monitoring for the Parish Development Model (PDM) program. The devices were handed over to the recipients in a ceremony held at Soroti City Hall.

Peter Pex Paak, the Resident City Commissioner of Soroti, presided over the handover and highlighted the critical role these gadgets will play in digitizing PDM operations. He emphasized that the new technology will streamline processes, increase efficiency, and ultimately improve service delivery for the program. By facilitating better data management and real-time monitoring, the gadgets are expected to make it easier for officials to track the progress of PDM implementation and ensure that resources are used effectively.

However, Paak, along with other leaders, also issued a strong warning against the potential misuse of PDM funds. He cautioned that any form of extortion or embezzlement of the funds intended to lift communities out of poverty would not be tolerated, stressing the importance of integrity and transparency in the program’s administration.

Juliet Agonyo, the Speaker of Soroti City Council, also addressed the gathering and called on the town agents and SACCO heads to prioritize the safety of the gadgets. She urged them to use the devices solely for their intended purpose to ensure that the program’s objectives are met.

Peter Patrick Emaru and Paul Omer, the mayors of Soroti City West and East, respectively, also weighed in on the matter. They advised beneficiaries of the PDM funds to invest the money wisely, ensuring it is used in ways that will bring long-term benefits to their communities.
