SSOCCOM: Soroti Catholic Diocese Social Communications Commission (SSOCCOM) is an Information
Dissemination and Communication arm of Soroti Catholic Diocese, which consists of the three
departments, namely; Kyoga Veritas Radio, DELTA Radio, and the Print and Audio-Visual
(PAV) department, with an advisory Board of 7-members: The offices of SSOCCOM are located
on plot 27, Serere road, West Division, Soroti City; 300km east of the Uganda’s capital city Kampala.

Mission: Promotion of holistic development, through provision of appropriate and sustainable media.

Vision: A socio-economically developed and well evangelized regional community.

Objectives:

1. To establish and develop traditional and modern media of communication for facilitation
of Evangelistic, Pastoral, Educational and Socio-economic Development of the
communities in the region.
2. To facilitate linkages of constructive dialogue for productive collaboration among
Communities, Institutions and individuals within and beyond Soroti Catholic Diocese
Goal: To be a leading medium of Economic, Social and Spiritual transformation in North
Eastern Uganda.

Kyoga Veritas FM was established in 2001 broadcasting on FM 91.5 located about 300 km from
the capital, Kampala, in Eastern Uganda. The radio broadcasts in four languages, English, Ateso,
Kumam and Lukenye. It was established to amplify the pastoral and social-economic programs
of the Diocese. The Radio covers more than 12 districts in Eastern Uganda. The radio’s stereo
signal reaches out to listeners in Soroti, Serere, Katakwi, Kaberamaido, Kalaki, Kumi, Pallisa,
Kapchorwa, Bukedea, Amuria, and parts of Bugisu sub-region’s capital Mbale, Nakapiripirit in
Karamoja sub-region, and Dokolo, Amolatar and Alebtong in Lango sub-region.
DELTA FM Radio, a company that is limited by guarantee was established in 2004, is located
about 300 km east of Uganda’s capital city, Kampala. It broadcasts on FM 97.0 and is located in
Soroti city. The immediate target groups for DELTA radio are the communities and families of
age 25-55 years, broadcasting in English, Ateso, and Kumam languages. The radio commands
listenership from the following 16 districts from Teso namely; Soroti, Serere, Kumi, Katakwi,Kaberamaido, Kalaki Amuria, Ngora, Pallisa, Kapchorwa, Moroto, Kotido, Kabong,
Nakapiripirit, Bukedea and some parts of Lira.

The Print Audio Visual Department (PAV) of social communications commission was
established in 1992. It deals directly with the production and sale of print and audio visual and
sacramental products to promote new evangelization and pastoral work. Other services it offers
include printing of T-shirts, books, graphic designing, video coverage and production among
others.

ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT

The Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese is the custodian of SSOCCOM; He appoints the board
of Directors to play a policy oversight role. The day today management of SSOCCOM is done
by the Director appointed by the Bishop. Below the Director is the General Manager and the
Senior Finance Assistant. Each of the three departments is directly headed by a programs
manager, assisted by the news editors.
