15 Persons With Disability (PWD) groups are set to benefit from a 75 million grant meant to empower them economically under the Ministry of Gender, labor, and Social Development.
This was confirmed by Magret Emuria Acaya the District development officer Soroti during an engagement meeting with PWDs in the district.
She says that each group will receive at least five million, clarifying that the money is not a loan but a special grant given annually through a microfinance support system to improve the livelihood of PWDs.
Michael Ameu, the chairperson of PWDs in Soroti District, noted that the grant will fill in the gaps that other government programs have left, advising them to put the money to good use.
